When Jesus (ie. Isa a.s), giving a talk to his people (jews) about a coming prophet, and his name is "Ahmad", But when he came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic." (al-Saff : 6) This short story about what the previous prophets alert their people that they are the messengers, and when the time come, the last and final prophet, Muhammad s.a.w will be sent by Allah s.w.t to uphold His name and to bring all mankind into the brightness of Iman and Taqwa.
From the beginning of our childhood, as a Muslim we always read about the story of our prophet. As the believe of Muhammad s.a.w as a prophet of Allah and the last (which is no more other prophet after him), is a part of our faith in Islam. We are always been thought by our parents, teachers, and older that the love to Rasulullah is a part of halawatul iman (the sweetness of faith). It was mentioned by the prophet that, who ever declares he or she is mu'min, must love him deeply, more than they love their parents, children, or other people. Qatadah narrated from Anas r.a, that he heard Rasulullah s.a.w said :
حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم قال حدثنا ابن علية عن عبد العزيز بن صهيب عن أنس عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ح و حدثنا آدم قال حدثنا شعبة عن قتادة عن أنس قال
قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى أكون أحب إليه من والده وولده والناس أجمعين
To understand the meaning of this hadith, we need to understand that this hadith carries two different perspective. First, Rasulullah s.a.w encourage that all people must love him as a part of Faith pillar. When we announce our shahadah, we must understand that we confess the oneness of Allah and that Muhammad was His last messenger.
Second, this hadith give us the meaning that it is our obligation to protect Rasulullah s.a.w and everything he brought us, especially al-Quran and Hadith. This is as what was mentioned by Rasulullah s.a.w in his famous hadith, that he left behind him two things, that if the Muslim follow these things, they will never lost (in their life), it is Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah.
It was about 1443 years we far behind of Rasulullah. Rasulullah s.a.w said that, he impressed very much with the group of his people (ummat), who love him very much even though they never see him before. Sahabah have the opportunities to see the face of the prophet, they see the brilliant of Rasulullah, they see the greatness of Rasulullah, they can feel the lights coming out of Rasulullah mouth, they can hear the beautiful-ness of Rasulullah voices. But we, as his ummat, never see that. However we still follows him and pray him with Salawat, doing as many as we can of his sunnah. This is what he very delight when been told by Allah about his people after him.
We just can't wait to see Rasulullah s.a.w in Mahsyar. It is the time when Rasulullah will lead all the prophets and the mu'min before Allah s.w.t in Mahsyar. May Allah grant us to stay with Rasulullah s.a.w in Mahsyar.
